Farrier Sam Dracott - whose video of him removing a horseshoe was the most watched TikTok of 2022 - has become a Redwings Ambassador.
Surrey-based Sam has been a registered farrier shoeing horses in the South-East for the past 13 years. Just two months after sharing his first post on TikTok he’d amassed a million followers and now has a whopping 3.9 million on the social media platform!
He got back the saddle himself earlier this year when he became the owner of an 11-year-old grey gelding called Milo, and the pair will soon be seen on Horse & Country TV’s reality show Blackfort Equestrian All Star Academy.
After meeting Redwings at an event, Sam has been a keen advocate of our work online, liking and sharing our stories, appeals and horse welfare messages, before reaching out to say he wanted to do a fundraiser. What a #redwingsangel!
Sam organised The Dracott Cup, a charity polo match to raise money for our rescued residents which took place at Ash Farm Polo Club in Ottershaw, Surrey last month (18th October).
“I’m really proud to be joining Redwings as a charity Ambassador. As a farrier and now horse owner, I’ve seen first-hand how much these wonderful animals trust us to care for them.
“When I met the Redwings team at the National Equine Show earlier this year, I was blown away by the care and dedication that goes into helping horses who need it most."
“Sam is a wonderful advocate for us here at Redwings, and we’re excited to keep working with him, his fiancé Freddie and team, in his new official role as a Redwin Charity Ambassador"

“It inspired me to host my first charity polo event, The Dracott Cup, to raise money for them. I’m proud to be supporting a charity that puts horses first in everything they do.”
Sam’s role will see him lend his influence to publicise our work, and he won’t be providing or replacing own team of valued farriers. Redwings Ambassadors are not paid, and Sam is generously donating his time for free.
Jennie Roberts, Redwings’ Social Media Manager, said: “Sam has been engaging with our stories and appeals for the past year, helping us in particular to find Guardian homes for our horses amongst his followers, amplify important Strangles Awareness Week messages and recently signing and encouraging others to sign our fireworks petition, calling for the Government to reduce the maximum volume of consumer fireworks from 120 to 90 decibels.
“A couple of months ago he got in touch to tell us he was organising The Dracott Cup and wanted to use it to raise money for our rescued residents. We could never have imagined the kind of event he and everyone involved put together. It was an incredible day. We took Redwings Adoption Star Tinkerbell and her pony friend Marjorie along to meet the celebrity riders, sponsors and fans who had come to watch, and they were treated like every bit the VIPs they are.
“Sam is a wonderful advocate for us here at Redwings, and we’re excited to keep working with him, his fiancé Freddie and team, in his new official role as a Redwings Charity Ambassador. “
Thank you so much Sam, Freddie and team!
