Please note: While our series of open weekends at Redwings Mountains has now finished for the year, supporters are welcome to enquire about private visits. Please email mountains.vc@redwings.co.uk to find out availability. Please be aware that due to recent storms, private visits will be dependent on the weather and conditions at the centre at the time.
Entry is free but we would love visitors to consider making a donation towards the care of our rescued residents.
The Redwings Mountains gift shop will be open to visitors on 2nd, 3rd, 16th and 17th December, from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
The centre will be closed to all visitors from Saturday 23rd December to Friday 5th January 2024.
Redwings Mountains is situated off the B957, approximately 12 miles from Forfar. Postcode: DD8 3SQ.
The nearest bus stop is Noranside 1.8 miles away (35 min walk). However, this is a very remote area and we would recommend booking a taxi from Forfar from one of the number of companies who operate from the town.
The nearest railway station is located at Arbroath (20 miles away).
Cyclists are welcome! If you are a member of a cycling club, why not make a trip to Redwings Mountains to meet our rescued ponies and enjoy refreshments from our cafe as part of your regular bike rides?
We are in the process of updating our access statement for Redwings Mountains. If you have any queries about the accessibility of the centre, please call our team on 01508 505246.
If you would like to organise a visit on behalf of a community or youth group, please email education@redwings.co.uk so we can discuss your needs.
We do not charge for group visits, however you may wish to make a donation or fall in love with one of our Adoption Stars and choose to sponsor them! However you wish to support us, your help will ensure we can continue to take care of the lovely rescued residents you see on your visit, now and into the future.
If your group cannot visit in person, Redwings also offers virtual talks! We can offer the choice of a general Redwings talk about who we are and what we do, or a talk about general horse care as well as the specialist sanctuary care we provide our rescued residents.
The talk can be carried out via MS Teams or Zoom as you prefer (or contact us to discuss other options!).
We're happy to provide bespoke visits for schools and colleges at our visitor centres. Whether you're looking for a fun, educational day out for your pupils at the end of the school year, or you're a college with students studying animal or equine care, we can tailor visits for all ages and levels of knowledge.
Visits can include speaking to those who care for our rescued residents day-in, day-out, a chance to meet some of our horses and donkeys up-close, and hands on activities, subject to staff availability.
