On Sunday 19th July, Redwings Caldecott will host the fourth National Human-Animal Bond Awareness Day (NHABAD), filled with talks from animal health experts and inspirational individuals, and a special children's drawing workshop with Hercule Van-Woldwinkle of Rubbish Pet Portraits!
StreetVet, a UK charity offering veterinary support to the homeless in the UK, will collaborate with several other charities to deliver the day of educational and inspiring talks and activities. Jade Statt, StreetVet Co-Founder and Clinical Director says: “Recognition of the importance of the human-animal bond is the foundation upon which StreetVet was created. We are so excited to be the founding charity for a day dedicated to celebrating the power of pets”.
Tammie O’Leary, co-founder of NHABAD and animal health advocate says: “Many of us have, or have previously experienced relationships with animals that are unique. Animals are often a constant in our lives for good reason. The support animals provide us is truly powerful, emotionally, mentally and physically. The NHABAD is an opportunity to educate, interact, have fun and inspire people to understand more about each of the charities involved. Whether it’s Riding for the Disabled, Support Dogs, Battersea Dog and Cats Home, or Dogs for Good, each play an important role in the community. Animals help us to become better humans. There is no judgement and endless unconditional love which can everyone can appreciate. This campaign’s aim is to increase awareness of the ways in which animals assist us through their companionship or skills”.
Nicola Knight, our Head of Communications and Campaigns, said: “We are all about that special bond between animals and humans here at Redwings, and so we are thrilled to be hosting this fantastic day dedicated to exactly that. Celebrating how much animals bring to our lives and how animals and humans can work together in extraordinary ways. It promises to be a fantastic day!”
The event will be held at Redwings Caldecott on Sunday 19th July between 10am and 4pm. Admission is free and dogs are welcome!
