Meet Papillon, Redwings’ newest Adoption Star!

As one of the largest horses at the Sanctuary, Adoption Star Papillon is hard to miss. But don't let her size fool you, she is known for her calm nature, kind heart and love of people.

Papillon's life at Redwings began the day she was born and so she has only ever known human kindness. Her mum, Tortoiseshell, who was rescued while pregnant with her, was part of a group of Shire horses who had been left to fly-graze in Kidderminster (this means they had been left on land without the landowner's permission).

Following a huge rescue operation involving several charities, Tortoiseshell and five other Shire horses found safety at Redwings, and before long Papillon made her arrival too. Having spent her whole life in Redwings' care, she has grown into a gentle giant with a lovely nature.

Earlier this year, we were delighted to welcome Papillon to the Adoption Scheme. To celebrate her becoming an Adoption Star, she will be having a special launch party at Redwings Aylsham on Sunday 25th October.

The fun begins at 11am and includes a talk from one of her carers, a grooming demonstration, plus a fun quiz and more. We hope you can join her for her special party!
