Redwings Caldecott

Redwings Caldecott is our largest visitor centre and currently home to over 110 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.

Here you can meet mini but mighty Shetland pony Sampson, plus a whole herd of donkeys and mules – including adorable donkey Esther and Fox the handsome Shire!

We are delighted to say that Redwings Caldecott will be reopening to visitors on a trial basis from Saturday 25th July.

However there will be some changes to ensure we keep you all safe! These include:

We will be open on Saturdays and Sundays only for the time being, between 10.30am and 3pm.

Visitors must book a time slot for their arrival to ensure the number of people at the centres remains at a safe level at all times. Tickets can be booked here:

Entry remains free but donations would be welcome towards the care of our lovely rescued residents.

There will be a one-way route around the centre to help everyone maintain social distancing.

The cafe and play area will remain closed for now but we hope to open the gift shop in a few weeks' time.

Find out more below and on our FAQs page here - we are so looking forward to welcoming you back!

Update: We're 'Good to Go' - now accredited by VisitBritain for our approach to keeping you safe during your visit.

Opening times

How to find us
Redwings Caldecott is situated on the A143 between Great Yarmouth and Beccles, opposite Fritton Lake. Postcode: NR31 9EY.

Oliver's Café and Gift Shop

From 25th July we will be open for site walks only. This means Oliver's café and our gift shop, located in Caldecott Hall, will remain closed. The welcome centre toilets will be open. From 15th August, the gift shop will be open, and the café will be offering takeaway drinks and a limited range of pre-packaged snacks.

Memory Garden

We're creating a new Memory Garden at Redwings Caldecott to provide a welcoming and reflective space for our supporters to remember lost loved ones, both people and pets. You can find out more about the project by clicking here

As part of the project, we have moved all the plaques from our existing memorial area to their new position in the Memory Garden. This means, for a short period, these plaques are inaccessible for visitors. Please call us on 01508 481000 to check on the latest developments before making your trip if you wish to visit your plaque.

Please note: From time to time there may be restricted access to certain areas of the site due to machinery moving around, while we work hard to complete this special project.
