Redwings Caldecott

Redwings Caldecott is our largest visitor centre and currently home to over 110 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.

Here you can meet mini but mighty Shetland pony Sampson, plus a whole herd of donkeys and mules – including adorable donkey Esther and Fox the handsome Shire!

Redwings Caldecott has now reopened on a trial basis.

However there have been some changes to ensure we keep you all safe! These include:

We are open on Saturdays and Sundays only for the time being, between 10.30am and 3pm.

Visitors must book a time slot for their arrival to ensure the number of people at the centre remains at a safe level at all times. Tickets can be booked here: (Please note that following the change in the law we are unable to take bookings for groups larger than six people. Thank you for your understanding).

Entry remains free but donations would be welcome towards the care of our lovely rescued residents.

There is be a one-way route around the centre to help everyone maintain social distancing.

Our gift shop is open and we're providing a takeaway service of drinks and pre-packaged snacks from our cafe.

To help protect our equine care teams, we're asking for now that visitors avoid touching our fencelines or horses.

Find out more below and on our FAQs page here - we are so looking forward to welcoming you back!

Update: We're 'Good to Go' - now accredited by VisitBritain for our approach to keeping you safe during your visit.

Oliver's Café and gift shop

The gift shop is now open, and the café will be offering takeaway drinks and a limited range of pre-packaged snacks.

Memory Garden

We're creating a new Memory Garden at Redwings Caldecott to provide a welcoming and reflective space for our supporters to remember lost loved ones, both people and pets. You can find out more about the project by clicking here

As part of the project, we have moved all the plaques from our existing memorial area to their new position in the Memory Garden. This means, for a short period, these plaques are inaccessible for visitors. Please call us on 01508 481000 to check on the latest developments before making your trip if you wish to visit your plaque.

Please note: From time to time there may be restricted access to certain areas of the site due to machinery moving around, while we work hard to complete this special project.
