Hay donation will help feed our residents this winter!

Sun Rising donates 20 bales of hay to Redwings

Our Redwings Oxhill visitor centre, in Warwickshire, has received a generous donation of 20 bales of hay from Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground and Nature Reserve. This is the second donation made by owner David Orr this year.

Emma Restall Orr, from Sun Rising, said: “As an ethical organisation we are always looking for the most environmentally and socially ethical option. Mowing our wildflower meadow in August leaves us with 20 – 30 bales of hay, rich in good nutrients from the mix of grasses and flowers that a traditional meadow should have, and the question of what we might do with these arose.

“Redwings Oxhill is not far from our nature reserve burial ground, and families visiting loved ones laid to rest here will sometimes stop at the Sanctuary, especially if coming from far afield, making it a part of their trip, so we knew they would be pleased with our decision. It seemed a perfect fit: we are very happy to support it.”

Thank you to David Orr and the team at Sun Rising for their generous donation, which will be very much appreciated by all the rescued residents at Redwings Oxhill!
