Sam Wolfenden has become an official Ambassador of Redwings after contacting us to offer his help.
The West Yorkshire farrier, who has 16 years of experience, has built up a following of over one million horse-lovers on his popular @SWFarriers YouTube, TikTok and Instagram social media channels, where he already shares positive welfare messages.
Sam said: “I have long admired the incredible work Redwings does in rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing a safe haven for horses in need.
“Their dedication to horse welfare is truly inspiring, and it means a lot to me both professionally and personally.
“As someone who has devoted my career to caring for horses, I wanted to offer to help Redwings in any way I can and am very happy to join them as an official charity Ambassador.”
Sam’s career started early, having undertaken a four-year apprenticeship alongside his dad, a respected farrier himself, at 16 years old after a childhood spent around the trade.
Sam has spent years perfecting his skills, combining traditional techniques with modern insights to provide the best hoof care for horses. Through his online content, he showcases the art of being a farrier – the skill, the precision, and the care that goes into every trim and shoeing.
Sam said: “I have a relationship with all the horses I look after, and I’m invested in their lives and well-being.
“They feel like they are my horses, they’re my most important client.
“I get to know them all individually which is key in making this essential experience good for them.”
Redwings Ambassadors are not paid, and Sam is generously donating his time to us for free.
Lydia Booth, Marketing and Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Sam has become one of Redwings’ official Ambassadors.
“He’s dedicated to using his platform to help us reach the widest audience possible and hopefully inspire more people to get involved with us, whether through donations or volunteer efforts, which as a charity is of the upmost importance so we can continue the work that we do.
“He’s horse first in everything he does, which is the approach we take here at Redwings, and we’re excited for him to visit one of our centres very soon.”
Our contracted farriers at Redwings are the incredible R G Rush farriers and have been for more than 20 years, this has not changed, Sam will be supporting us with welfare messages and helping to raise the profile of the charity to encourage more support.
