Thank you to everyone at Holywell Park Farm Livery Yard in Kent who raised a fantastic £110 for Redwings thanks to an extra-special festive hack on Christmas Eve.
About 30 people and over 15 horses took part in the charity event, which saw the group enjoy a two-mile ride or walk from the livery yard in Meopham to the local pub The Green Man.
Prior to the hack, riders had gathered at the yard to dress their ponies (and themselves!) in their best Christmas attire. But star of the show was pony Rosie who was dressed as a sparkling Christmas tree with a costume made by her owner Pescha and her grandma.
The festive spectacle raised plenty of smiles at the pub, encouraging lots of people to come outside to take a peek and make donations for Redwings.
As well as the Christmas Eve hack, members of the livery yard had been making their own donations throughout December, meaning the money they raised during the event was just the tip of the iceberg of their fundraising efforts!
Organiser Suzanne Smith, said: “It was a lovely day enjoyed by all. The horses were fab, all well-behaved and we’ll definitely be doing it again. We’re so glad we could help Redwings a little bit and really hope it helps make a difference.”
The group’s efforts will certainly make real difference because £110 could pay for 22 nutritious horse feeds, fund health checks for two new arrivals to the Sanctuary, or cover the cost of collecting a neglected or abandoned horse in need of help.
