Joint statement from Redwings and RSPCA about horses on Paper Mill Lane

Officers from Redwings Horse Sanctuary and the RSPCA have been working together to monitor the welfare of horses in Paper Mill Lane, Bramford.

Redwings has been working with the horse owners there for many years and their welfare vets and senior field officer regularly visit the site along with an RSPCA inspector and representatives from other welfare organisations.

The horses appear to be checked daily, have grazing and water, and are being given hay, rugs and veterinary treatment when necessary.

We would like to reassure the public we are keeping a close eye on these horses and thank them for raising concerns about their welfare.

We are aware of photographs circulating recently on social media and we understand that the horses in question have now been taken on by a new owner, and have since been examined by a vet and are receiving care.

Anyone with welfare concerns for any animal can call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 or our welfare team on 01508 481008. Alternatively, email welfare@redwings.co.uk to make an official report.
