Redwings Mountains, near Forfar, is currently under a rare Red Met Office warning for rain.
Our most vulnerable residents, who may have been worst affected by the weather, have been moved into stables and the rest of our herds are in fields with plentiful shelter and forage.
Staff that could safely make it to the centre today have ensured all the residents are safe and have sufficient food and water to see them through the worst of the weather.
Lynn Cutress, Redwings CEO, said: “Our team at Redwings Mountains are experts in tackling everything the Scottish weather can throw at them, but Storm Babet has brought truly unprecedented conditions to the people of Angus. Our priority is of course staff safety, and staff have only made it to the centre if it is safe to do so, and I thank them for pulling out all the stops to ensure our horses and donkeys are fed and well.”
Redwings Horse Sanctuary is a charity funded entirely by donations from the public. If you would like to support us as we manage the consequences of the storm, please consider donating today.
Thank you #RedwingsAngels
