Purchasing an adoption
You can sponsor a horse or donkey for £2 a month via Direct Debit or from just £25 as a one-off payment and you’ll receive a wonderful adoption pack including a special certificate, stunning photo of your new friend and their story. You’ll also receive quarterly emails with stories and photos of their life at the Sanctuary!

Of course you can! Adopting a horse or a donkey for a loved one or friends makes a thoughtful and unique gift – perfect for Christmas, Easter or birthdays!
When you come to purchase your adoption, you can choose to have the adoption pack posted directly to the recipient, or you can opt to have the pack posted directly to you so you can give the gift at a time of your choosing.
We aim to send your pack as quickly as possible and you can usually expect it to arrive within five working days. However, during the busy festive period, delivery can take up to 21 days, so please be patient.
After many years as well-loved Adoption Stars, we feel it’s only right that these wonderful residents have the chance to enjoy a peaceful retirement in their golden years.
If your Adoption Star retires, it doesn’t mean you still can’t sponsor them. It just means we won’t be accepting any new sponsors for that particular Adoption Star. You’ll still receive updates from your four-legged friend and can give them a cuddle at the visitor centre where they live.
Renewing my adoption
Renewing online is easy! Select your Adoption Star and follow the instructions to make your payment.
Alternatively, you can always pop into your local Redwings Visitor Centre to renew in person, or call us on 01508 505246. There are so many ways to keep your friendship going, so however you choose to renew, thank you!
When you come to renew your adoption, or at any time in your sponsorship, you are welcome to transfer your support to another Adoption Star. Alternatively, you could also sponsor more than one Adoption Star at once! Whatever you decide, call us on 01508 505246 and we’d be happy to help!
My one-off adoption
You can contact our friendly Supporter Engagement Team by calling 01508 505246, or by email to info@redwings.co.uk. Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 16:30. Please note that our offices are closed on bank holidays.
As you’ll know, the cost of everything from feed to veterinary care has risen significantly in recent years, yet our adoption rate has remained the same for a long time. This past year has been one of the toughest we have faced here at Redwings. Despite the unwavering generosity of our supporters, expenses are outpacing income. Feed and hay prices have soared, and essential staffing costs have risen significantly. To maintain our special sanctuary care we have had to use some of our savings. We have always been careful with our supporters’ donations, keeping administrative costs low and stretching every pound, but this year we have had to make some very difficult decisions. One of these was updating our minimum donation for adoptions.
We understand that not everybody may be in a position to increase their contribution to £25.00. To help spread the cost over the year, you can now renew by Direct Debit for as little as £2.00 per month. You can sign up at www.redwings.org.uk/adopt. Yes, you can change your payment method to a Direct Debit. It is quick and easy to do at www.redwings.org.uk/adopt. Alternatively, you can contact our Supporter Engagement Team who can support you in setting up your regular gift over the phone.
Thank you so much! No further action is required, and you can continue to renew your adoption at your usual rate of £25.00 or more.

Visiting my Adoption Star
All of our Adoption Stars live at Redwings visitor centres (except Monarch) where you can meet (and give them plenty of cuddles!) for free. Our visitor centres operate different opening times, so please check in our Visit section to find out the latest on visiting your Adoption friend.
Yes! Our Adoption Stars have the chance to celebrate their birthdays with parties at the visitor centres where they live - and everyone is invited! If you sponsor an Adoption Star, you'll be sent your own invitation with all the details of the big day. Alternatively, keep checking our website for all the latest dates!
We are not offering meet ‘n’ greet opportunities with Adoption Stars at this time, however we hope you enjoy seeing them happy in their fields enjoying sanctuary life. They may even come over for a cuddle at the fence line.
