More frosty frolics at Redwings Aylsham

We have plenty of winter treats in store for you this December. Whether you are looking for a last minute horsey gift or simply want to enjoy a wintery wander among our friendly residents, Redwings Aylsham offers you a warm welcome, even on the chilliest of days.

As the nights draw in and Christmas approaches, we invite you to come along and enjoy our December ‘after hours’ Christmas shopping evenings. On Monday 1st, 8th and 15th December why don’t you pop down after work or school to enjoy some festive shopping? Our farm gates will close as usual at 4pm so that our residents can settle in for the night, but the centre will remain open so you can browse our range of Christmas gifts or take the opportunity to sponsor one of our lovely Adoption Stars!

Indeed, to celebrate Redwings’ 30th anniversary, we have a special adoption offer. Choose a resident to adopt from Redwings Aylsham, or indeed any one of our four visitor centres around the UK, and for just £12.50 a year not only will you or your loved one receive a standard adoption pack, but 12 months' free access to your chosen horse's online diary! Our free online access offer is available for all adoptions taken out by 31st December and your sponsorship will go directly towards the daily care of your chosen horse or donkey and their friends. To choose your Adoption Star to sponsor, please click here.

Think you know about donkeys? Then come along and have a go at our December Donkey Quiz Trail! Our resident donkeys, Wiggins, Wacko, Derek and Clive have the answers, but donkeys being donkeys, they’re not very willing to share! If you are up for the challenge, Donkey Quiz sheets are available from the information centre daily for a donation of 50p.

Our free Walk and Talk tours continue daily throughout December. Tours start at midday, when you will be introduced to our residents, including Adoption Stars Gulliver, Maya and our notorious herd of Shetlands, The Gangsters! Don’t miss the chance to discover all about your favourite horses, ponies, or donkeys, their daily routines, and their Redwings stories. After the tour, take a moment to warm up indoors with our Christmas shopping offer: a free cup of tea or coffee and a tasty mincemeat slice when you spend £15 or more in our gift shop.

Perhaps you might like to treat your little ones (and ours!) to a pony grooming taster session. Sorry grown-ups, this one is just for the children. Our ponies really love a groom, after all they enjoy a good run around the paddock whatever the weather, and at this time of year it doesn’t take long for them to look a little muddy! Pony grooming sessions can be booked at the information centre on the day, for a donation of £3.

Lastly, a special treat for our youngest visitors: Redwings Story Time! On Monday 29th December from 1:30pm to 2pm we invite your little ones to bring their brothers, sisters, and of course their cuddly Teds and Neds, to enjoy some horsey stories in our cosy visitor centre.

For more information about Redwings Aylsham’s activities and opening times, please ask at the visitor centre, email info@redwings.co.uk or call our visitor helpline on 0870 040 0033.

Please note: For pony grooming, we have three places available each day for children a minimum of 5 years old. Sturdy, closed toe footwear must be worn, to protect little toes! All activities are subject.
