Enjoy an action-packed Easter at Redwings Aylsham

From our first ever art sale to Easter egg hunts, storytelling and pony grooming, we’ve got your Easter holidays covered!

Kicking off proceedings from Good Friday 3rd April we’ll be hosting an art sale where visitors and art collectors alike can view and buy pieces from our collection of donated work. Here you’ll find classically framed works of traditional countryside scenes, sketches, watercolours and acrylics, as well as portraits of our very own Adoption Stars.

Prices of artwork will range from £5 to £425 and every penny raised will go directly towards the care of our horses, ponies, donkeys and mules across the Sanctuary. There will also be a silent auction to win a framed original painting by renowned artist Nicky Trowers as donated by Whistlefish Gallery.

This Easter at Redwings Aylsham we pay special attention to our larger residents in what we like to call our “We love horses!” activities, perfect for all members of the family! For children aged five and over, we have hands-on pony grooming sessions, where they can help us make our residents look their beautiful best. Taking place every day throughout the holidays (except Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th April) places for pony grooming can be booked at the information desk for a £3 donation.

If you want to learn more about our work as a sanctuary and the special care we provide for each of our horses and donkeys, we’ll be running daily meet and greets with our horsey residents, including our very own “Black Beauty” Adoption Star Maya!

We’ll also be holding handling demonstrations and “A day in the life of…a Redwings checker” talks from our farm teams. Here you find out how our rescue horses undergo a training programme to ensure they are comfortable being handled, and how we carry out daily checks of our horses to make sure they’re happy and healthy. Our handling demonstrations will take place on Friday 3rd and 10th April, and checker demonstrations on Monday 30th March and Friday 10th April.

Finally, for those little ones who prefer a gentler pace, they’ll love our story time sessions, which take place at 11am on Saturday 28th and 29th March. Alternatively, for those looking to burn off some steam, challenge yourself on our daily Easter egg quiz trail – quiz sheets are available from the information desk for a 50p donation.

Redwings Aylsham is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am – 4pm all year round. For more information about our activities, pop into the centre or call our visitor helpline 0870 040 0033.
