Summer Club Assistant

ROLE PURPOSE

To assist Redwings Horse Sanctuary by providing your time to help with the delivery of our Redwings Summer Club, for children aged 6-11, held at our Redwings Visitor Centres throughout the school summer holidays. Volunteers will have availability between 11am and 1pm on Mondays and Fridays throughout the Summer Holidays.

KEY TASKS 
We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to become Summer Club Assistants, and to help staff ensure the smooth running of Summer Club sessions with tasks including:

  • Collecting children from the VC Welcome Desk and checking attendance against the register.
  • Helping prepare resources and supporting our staff to ensure a fun and interactive experience for the children.
  • Help with the collection of accurate information for reporting impact and enjoyment.
  • Ensure all children receive a loyalty card and have it stamped at the end of the session at the Welcome Desk and receive the correct award for regular attendance.
  • Engaging with families and children before Summer Club sessions start and afterwards to help them get the most out of their visit.
  • Promoting the best ways visitors can support Redwings including signing up to the Young Reds and Mini Reds magazine, following us on social media, adoptions and donations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Are you passionate about horse welfare and wish to inspire others? Could you be a student interested in gaining valuable work experience in an equine role? Do you have the confidence to engage with groups of adults and children? If yes, then this position may be for you!

With our varied summer programme, you may be involved in helping children learn more about the rescue stories of our residents, animal care activities such as haynet making or interaction sessions with our ponies and donkeys.

As an ambassador for the charity, you will be a friendly and approachable individual who wants to enthuse others about the important work Redwings does. It is important that all our volunteers are sympathetic to Redwings’ vision and values as well as showing a commitment to maintaining the health and safety of themselves and others.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for volunteers who have:

  • Enthusiasm for helping our staff deliver Summer Club, for 6-11 year olds.
  • Previous experience of speaking to groups and leading activities or a strong desire to gain experience in this area.
  • A willingness to work outdoors and try new things.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and independently. 
  • The ability to work Mondays and/or Fridays 11am-1pm during the Summer Holidays.
  • The ability to travel to different venues within your local area.

Redwings Mountains: Fri 5th July - Mon 12th August
Redwings Aylsham, Redwings Caldecott, Redwings Ada Cole and Redwings Oxhill: Fri 26th July - Mon 2nd September
