When you renew, you'll receive a beautiful photo and a new update from your Adoption Star sharing their latest adventures at the Sanctuary and celebrating your next year of friendship.

To renew today, simply select your Adoption Star and choose whether it is for yourself or a nice gift for someone else. You can then decide to pay as a regular or a one-off payment.

How adoption works

1. Pick a horse or donkey to sponsor

Whether you’re a fan of a good sing-song or love nothing more than snooze, find your perfect Adoption Star partner for yourself or your loved one!

2. Set up your adoption

For gift adoptions we will need to get a few extra details to know who to send adoption star updates too.

3. Receive your adoption star pack

Your wonderful adoption pack includes a special certificate, stunning photo of your new friend and their story.

4. Get regular updates

We'll keep you up to date on how you're supporting our vital work including sending your adoption star updates with photos and stories throughout the year.

Adoption scheme FAQs

We aim to send your pack as quickly as possible and you can usually expect it to arrive within five working days. However, delivery can take up to 21 days, especially in busy times, so please be patient.

The majority of our adoption stars all live at one of our visitor centres around the UK.

Opening times vary, you can find all the details here. Entry is free of charge and as part of your adoption package you'll receive an invite to their birthday party at the centre where they live - yes really!

Monarch is a 'special adoption' who currently lives at a closed site but we hope you'll be able to visit him in the not too distant future when he's had a bit more training!

Can you guess why I was named Dotty? It's because my beautiful coat is covered in lots of spots. Also, because I can be a little dotty! There's nothing I like better than running around, playing games with donkey friends and saying hello to my lovely supporters!

I'm a very fluffy, mischievous donkey who loves to play with my friends in my paddock at Redwings Oxhill. My favourite toy to play with is a welly boot, especially if it contains some yummy treats, like carrots!

I was born at Redwings just a few weeks after my poor mum was rescued by the RSPCA, along with several other horses, all in an appalling condition. At 22 years old, Mayfair was the oldest of the group, but despite her advancing years she still managed to carry a healthy foal - that's me!

My name is Rumpel and I live at Redwings Oxhill in Warwickshire. I've come a long way since the day I first arrived at the Sanctuary in 2008. I was so petrified, that I would try to hide in a corner and shake anytime someone tried to touch me.

Looking at me, you may be wondering if I'm a donkey or a pony. Well, I'm actually both! I'm a mule which means my mum was a pony and my dad was a donkey. I share characteristics from both breeds and love the company of both too!
