Limpet needs someone to cling to
A horse that survived a vicious dog attack is finally ready to look for a new home thanks to the RSPCA and Redwings Horse Sanctuary.
Limpet is a 7-year-old tricoloured mare that was originally rescued by the RSPCA after she had been viciously attacked by three dogs while she was tied up on a tether and could not escape. The dogs chewed her front leg to the bone and the wound became severely infected; Limpet was also in very poor condition and it took many months of careful care at the RSPCA before she began to recover from her horrendous ordeal.
Although her owner was located, they disappeared soon after which made any further action impossible, and the RSPCA felt that due to her traumatic past and extensive rehabilitation this beautiful mare would need specialised care and so approached Redwings Horse Sanctuary to take on her ownership for the rest of her days.
Limpet is looking for a loving home
Once she had recovered sufficiently, she was brought to us here at Redwings in Norfolk, where she settled in brilliantly, and made such an impression on the staff for her friendly and sweet nature that they soon recommended her for the charity's Guardianship Scheme.
After some time spent with our re-homing team where she proved to be a really friendly girl, Limpet is now looking for a home as a companion pony – she is very sweet but understandably needs a calm and patient guardian, and to live in a home where she will not be in contact with any dogs, after her previous ordeal.
