Snuffles
Snuffles is a resident at our Oxhill Rescue Centre in Warwickshire. He was born with a condition called wry nose, which means his muzzle was bent out of shape in his mother’s womb and as a result he has a very twisted nose. His is a very extreme version of the condition and only two of his teeth meet in the middle so not only does he have breathing problems but he also has trouble grazing to find enough food to feed himself.

When he was younger we were very concerned for him as particularly in the Summer he had real problems breathing, and we even held an appeal to try and raise money for an operation to straighten his septum. However, as he has got older his condition has improved and so the funds raised through the appeal have been put towards his dental treatment instead, as he needs very regular treatments and check ups so his teeth do not grow into his twisted jaw and cause him pain.
However, despite all his problems he is the happiest little pony, and is actually well and truly the boss of his group. He is also much loved by our visitors as he adores being cuddled and made a fuss of. He was nicknamed 'Mr Snuffles' by our staff as he makes a snuffling, wheezing sound almost constantly, and the name just stuck!
