Blue
Blue is a stunning Black Thoroughbred, who is now 25 years old. His former owner contacted Redwings in 2007 when his livery yard was sadly forced to close after 20 years for personal and financial reasons. The other horses and ponies at the yard were able to be re-homed elsewhere but his owner just could not find a home for the then 23-year-old Blue as he was still a stallion, so approached Redwings to see if we could help.
The owner was also unwell and close to retirement and in the light of all the exceptional circumstances in this case, we were more than happy to step in and offer Blue a home. As it is Redwings’ policy not to breed horses, Blue was castrated shortly after his arrival, and despite his advanced years the procedure was fully successful. It has meant he can now live out happily with our resident herds. Although he was gelded so late he is a very kind, friendly and well behaved horse who has settled in beautifully to life at Redwings.
