Case studies

Toby

Toby was brought in to Redwings in 2006 with lameness problems – even though he was only ten years old, the future looked bleak, but he made a great recovery and has now been re-homed as a riding pony.

Toby

Toby wrote to us to tell us how he has been getting on his new home in Norfolk: “I am having a lovely time in my new home. I am busy getting my child’s confidence back because she had a terrible pony that ran away with her. She still sometimes cries if I do a little buck. I live with a very nice pony called Eddy, he is sometimes a bit naughty and I tell him to be good. I of course am perfect!” Toby and his Guardian Lydia have been winning lots of rosettes and have taken part in handy pony, dressage and gymkhana, but most of all they have been enjoying each other’s company! Well done you two!

Corsa

Corsa was originally rescued from a dealer back in 1993 and lived at Redwings for a number of years before being chosen as the perfect pony to go out and lived in a Guardian home, as he is such a sweetie!

Corsa

Even though he was backed to ride very late and is now 17, he is a picture of health and has taken to his new life like a duck to water! He has now lived with his Guardian family in Norfolk for over two years, and in that time his rider Imogen and Corsa have formed a great partnership. Imogen’s mum writes: “At home Corsa is a patient, caring and truly wonderful pony for Imogen. If she falls he stops immediately...The bond between them is quite amazing. You have found us the perfect pony and for that we are very grateful.” Imogen has written to us to say: “Thank you for letting me have such a good pony….I love my pony very much and he looks after me. Corsa is my king.”

Flicka

Flicka was found in very poor condition by the RSPCA in 2002 and given a home at the Ada Cole Rescue Stables in Essex.

She was re-homed to a family in Essex soon after and, along with her guardian Emily, she has gone on to win awards left right and centre. Emily and her “pony of a lifetime” Flicka have won the Essex Rider Magazine Cross Country League, qualified for the BSJA National Championships and even won the National Pony Club Championships in 2007!

Remember: If you are an existing Guardian, we always love to hear how you are getting on with your new friend – send us your news and pics to elacey@redwings.co.uk
