Tragic loss of much-loved Willow
We are very sorry to announce that retired adoption favourite Willow sadly passed away at the end of June, at the age of 21.
Rescued horse Willow was a great favourite on the Redwings Adoption Scheme for many years. However, he was retired from the Redwings Adoption Scheme in 2005 as he had been having trouble keeping his weight on and was showing the early signs of arthritis.
Since then Willow had been very content living at our Hapton headquarters for the past two years, but very recently he began to develop severe age-related arthritis in his back legs.

He went downhill quite quickly and despite their best efforts our vet team knew that even with lots of pain medication they would not be able to control his condition or keep him comfortable for any length of time. In the end the decision was made to put Willow to sleep to ensure he did not suffer any pain.
Willow was a stunning horse who was a familiar part of the Sanctuary for so many years and deeply loved; we will all miss him dearly and we know you will too!
If you would like to contribute to the Willow Memorial Fund, please telephone our Supporter Services team on 01508 481010.
Thank you.
