Redwings set to attend unique welfare eventWe will be hosting a stand at the 'Welfare of the Native Seminar', to be held at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre in West Lothian on May 5th.The event features a breed parade, with top judges explaining what they look for in good examples of native breeds; a talk by a top farrier on the importance of correct shoeing, trimming and how to avoid laminitic problems; a talk by an expert nutritionist on the importance of keeping natives ‘fit, not fat’, and a Q&A slot featuring all the experts from the day’s sessions. As a leading equine welfare organisation, Redwings feel that it is vital to support such an innovative and responsible event, designed to educate those interested in showing or breeding the UK’s native ponies in all aspects of their care and welfare.
With a number of these breeds becoming increasingly endangered, the world of showing has a vital role to play in educating the UK population about the beauty and importance of Britain’s native horses and ponies, so that we may all enjoy them for many years to come. Tickets are still available for the event – they cost £15 for adults and £7 for under 18s. Please call 01506 865714 or email richard@snec.co.uk to purchase tickets or for more information. We look forward to seeing you there!
