Thank you so much to everyone who came to visit us in 2005, and to all our supporters for making it such a fantastic year.
We welcomed more visitors to our centres and attended more horsey events than ever before. In fact, across our three visitor centres (Caldecott, Stonham and Oxhill) we welcomed more than 65,000 visitors, exceeding our visitor target by 25,000 people!
We were hoping for 40,000 visitors in 2005, after welcoming 30,000 in 2004. We believe the massive increase in visitors is a good indication the public is keen to combine fresh air with an inexpensive family day out, meeting our horsey residents and enjoying the interaction with them.
Targets are important for us as we can then monitor interest levels and make sure everyone enjoys their visit to us. Free entry was introduced last year to celebrate Redwings 21st birthday and in order to allow everyone the opportunity to come and see the work that we do. Hopefully they will then go and spread the Redwings word!
The free entry scheme has proved extremely successful and is something that will be continued into 2006, thanks to the generosity of everyone that has come to visit us during the past season.
With the recent merger with Ada Cole Rescue Stables in Essex and a new cafe and information centre planned at our Oxhill site we hope to make 2006 even more successful, with more opportunities to come and meet our wonderful rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. They love to meet their adoring public too!
