Visitor Centre gets stamp of approval

We are delighted to announce that our Warwickshire centre has been designated a Quality Assured Visitor Attraction.

Following an independent assessment of its facilities, our visitor centre at Oxhill has been awarded VAQAS status. The centre, home to more than 60 horses, ponies and donkeys, is open all year every day from 10am to 5pm to the general public, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Entry is free, and a visit is popular with people of all ages as they can not only learn about what the charity does but also enjoy a good pat with the friendly resident equines.

Our visitor centre at Oxhill now has VAQAS status

Press officer Nicola Markwell explained why this award is a ‘pony tale’ they are keen everyone hears. “VAQAS is awarded following independent review, and it’s not easy to get. The inspectors looked very carefully at all our facilities, which include a new combined cafĂ©, gift shop and information centre all with full disabled access, free parking and a new children's play area.

"In addition we welcome dogs on leads, arrange tours and demonstrations, give special paddock walks and birthday parties for visiting children and even for our adoption ponies. The team and volunteers at Oxhill have worked hard since we opened in 2005 and this is a reflection of their achievements. We are all very proud.”

The centre will now be displaying its plaque with pride, though it is hoping to ‘score a hat trick’ in the not too distant future as Oxhill is the second visitor centre of the three to gain this status. Redwings' Caldecott Visitor Centre in Norfolk was granted the status in 2005.
