Paddy's the star at the Suffolk Show! Our education pony Paddy was filmed for BBC Look East during the Suffolk Show last week.Paddy the pony and the Redwings stand were filmed as part of the lunchtime bulletin from the BBC Look East team on Wednesday May 30th. The Look East reporter was very taken with Paddy (pictured below with his friend Jacob) and also interviewed several Redwings supporters and a member of our team while spending time at our display!
Despite a rather grey start, the sun soon came out at the Show, which was held at the Suffolk Showground in Ipswich on May 30th and 31st. The Redwings stand was buzzing with visitors throughout the two days and our education ponies Paddy and Jacob stole the show, behaving like true professionals!
Paddy is an 18-year-old chestnut Shetland pony who was rescued in 2000. He had been suffering with severe sweet itch, a very uncomfortable skin condition that had not been treated and was causing him real problems. Redwings stepped in to help out and Paddy is now a happy and healthy pony who loves meeting his adoring public at events like the Suffolk Show! His companion Jacob is a small piebald Shetland who is very unusual as he has two 'wall eyes'. This means he has two blue-coloured eyes, which does not affect his vision at all but he does look rather unusual as a result! Jacob was left at a dealers, unwanted, but since his rescue he is now Paddy's partner in crime and the two ponies make a wonderful pair and help us tell people all about Redwings!
Attending events like the Suffolk Show really helps us to spread the word about Redwings and raise more money so we can help more horses like Paddy and Jacob in the future. To find out more about you can help us help horses, please telephone 01508 481000 or go to the fundraising pages of this site. The Redwings team will be attending the Royal Norfolk Show on June 27th and 28th in Norwich - we hope to see you there!
