Help is at hand for horse ownersRedwings' welfare team have produced two new leaflets, including one all about StranglesStrangles seems to be laden with more unhelpful stigmas and misunderstandings than any other equine veterinary condition in the UK, and now Redwings is seeking to dispel the myths with a brand new leaflet entitled: 'Strangles - Staying in Control'. The leaflet is packed full of information plus loads of useful advice for horse owners and yard owners on how to handle outbreaks of the disease. You can download a PDF version below, or you prefer a hard copy, email our Welfare team at externalwelfare@redwings.co.uk to request your copies today! The other new leaflet from the team is one that focuses on Cushings Disease, a condition caused by a malfunction of the pituitary gland that usually affects older horses. Redwings has a number of Cushings ponies in its care and is well equipped to offer advice on how to manage this difficult condition. Long term Redwings resident Ben was diagnosed with Cushings Disease six years ago but with careful management he is making wonderful progress (pictured below). To order your copy of the Redwings Cushings leaflet, email our welfare team (externalwelfare@redwings.co.uk) or telephone the team on 01508 481008.
