Loss of Rocky is felt by all
There have been tears all round as we said goodbye to beloved adoption pony Rocky, who sadly passed away at the end of April.

Adoption favourite Rocky passed away on April 24th, aged 16. He had been struggling with severe lameness in his right hind leg and hock, with arthritis compounding the problem in his hips and back.
Our veterinary team and a specialist referral team from Newmarket had carried out tests and tried various treatments to ease his condition but those treatments did not prove as effective as we had hoped and it was becoming more and more difficult to control Rocky's symptoms with medication. In the end the extremely difficult decision was made to put Rocky to sleep to ensure he didn't suffer.
Rocky was born on the Shetland Isles in 1991, got separated from his mother and was transported to Ireland at only four months old. Once in Dublin, he was sold to young boys who tried to ride him and ended up dislocating his young back. He was rescued in December 1991 after he was found collapsed back at the market in Dublin.
Although he always had problems with his back and hips as a result of his difficult past, Rocky enjoyed a long and very peaceful life at Redwings where he was a real favourite with our supporters, particularly the children who he adored.
This charming little pony was a real favourite with Redwings staff too and he will be greatly missed.
