'Trot along' to the Hapton Open Weekend for free!On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July we will open the gates to the Redwings headquarters at Hapton, south of Norwich, for a very special Summer Open Weekend. This beautiful 350-site is the centre for the Redwings’ Re-homing Team and specialist Horse Hospital and is home to many of the charity’s elderly and special care horses, ponies and donkeys. It is only open to the public for two weekends a year, so don’t miss your chance to trot along and find out what makes Redwings tick! There will be horse handling demonstrations, plus tours of the veterinary hospital and the opportunity to meet a number of very special residents, including retired adoption equines Ben and Willow. One of the highlights will be a demonstration by our Re-homing Team. The Redwings' Guardianship Scheme is almost a year old and already 50 horses and ponies have been successfully re-homed. The demonstration will show the process by which a Redwings' pony is backed and introduced to a working life, a fascinating and often thrilling process! The weekend promises fun for all the family with ‘celebrity’ appearances from the charity’s mascots ‘Red’ and ‘Wings’ and the chance to adopt a Redwings’ equine – a great way to support our valuable equine welfare work. It promises to be a fun-packed day out for young and old alike – why not take a minibus tour of the whole estate and then browse our extensive gift range in the gift shop or enjoy light refreshments in the Redwings’ Memorial Gardens? Redwings’ Hapton estate in Norfolk is open 10am to 4pm over both days, and entry is completely free of charge. To download directions to the site, follow this link >>>>>>>. Alternatively telephone the Redwings visitor helpline on 0870 040 0033 for more information. We hope to see you there!
