Three cheers for Finnegan! This coming Sunday we celebrate the birthday of beautiful cob Finnegan at our Essex centreIt's Finnegan's birthday on Sunday May 25th and we'll be having a party for him at the Ada Cole Rescue Centre near Harlow in Essex. Everyone is invited and the more of you that come along, the more cuddles this lovely cob will get!
The centre opens at 10am and entry is free of charge. During the morning there will be a horse care demo and then a visit from our lovely mascots Red and Wings! Then at 1pm it will be time for Finnegan's special birthday parade complete with horse-friendly birthday cake and some 'Happy Birthday' singing action too! Look out for Finnegan's best friend Henry who always gets a bit of cake too... In the afternoon you can go along with one of our friendly members of staff on a walking tour of the site - find out more about all our rescued horses, ponies and donkeys and ask your questions too. Handsome Finnegan was rescued with Henry and another cob from London by the RSPCA. All three were in very poor condition and needed a lot of TLC to get them feeling better. They made a great recovery and Finnegan is now a picture of health and loves being the centre of attention - so life as a Redwings adoption horse suits him perfectly! Following the closure of our Stonham centre last year, Ada Cole in Essex is now the permanent home of the four Stonham adoption horses Choccy, Katy, Finnegan and Harry - and there are five other horses to adopt at the site too including cheeky Misfit and beautiful Boo! There is a gift shop and information centre on site and they now serve light refreshments too including hot drinks and delicious cakes. Find out more about visiting the Ada Cole Rescue Centre by calling our visitor helpline on 0870 040 0033 or on the Visit Us pages of this site. On Bank Holiday Monday (May 26th) we will be having extra themed activities at all three of our visitor centres, in Norfolk, Essex and Warwickshire. The day will centre around Redwings' re-homing team, including demonstrations of how we back our rescued horses and talks on how we get them ready to go out into their Guardian homes. We hope to see you soon!
