Happy birthday boys!It was celebrations all round on April 2, when not one, but two of our adoption equines’ birthday parties took place - and all on the first opening weekend at Redwings visitor centres for 2006.Adoption favourite Icky, who lives at our Caldecott Visitor Centre near Great Yarmouth, turned 18 on March 24th and we celebrated on Sunday April 2 with a special birthday parade at the Norfolk centre. There were tours of this lovely site, plenty of horsey activities and the chance to meet this shy but lovable pony for yourselves, not to mention all his horsey friends!
Meanwhile, that very same day, one of the newest equines to the Redwings adoption scheme hosted his very own birthday party and parade at the Redwings Ada Cole Rescue Centre, near Harlow in Essex. Louie the Donkey’s birthday is March 31, but his party was on Sunday April 2 so as many of his supporters as possible could go along to meet him. There were activities all day long and even a surprise visit from Red, the Sanctuary’s cuddly mascot! This proved to be a wonderful chance for existing supporters from Redwings and Ada Cole Rescue Stables to meet and find out more about the organisation following the two charities’ merger in October 2005. With free entry to all Redwings visitor centres in 2006, there has never been a better time to visit us! Along with these Norfolk and Essex sites, Redwings also has visitor centres at Stonham in Suffolk and Oxhill in Warwickshire. To find out more, go to the Visit Us pages of this site or telephone our visitor helpline on 0870 040 0033. We would love to see you!
