Victor retires to our Hapton HQ
We are sorry to announce that Victor the Shire will not be returning to Caldecott this year.
A popular member of our adoption scheme, Victor is now 21 years old and his age, particularly for such a large horse, is sadly beginning to take its toll.
He has had mild arthritis for some time now, but over this particularly cold Winter, it started to cause him real problems in his back legs. He became very uncomfortable so our vet team decided to increase his medication to see if that would help. However, despite this increase his condition has not improved significantly so he now needs careful monitoring and special care to help him cope with the condition over the longer term.

As a result, Victor is unable to travel to our Caldecott centre for this Summer season and therefore we feel it is only right to retire him from the adoption scheme. If you adopt Victor you will receive a letter explaining this decision in more detail but don't worry, as you will be able to continue adopting Victor exactly as before - this retirement simply means he will no longer live at Caldecott.
All being well, and providing he is up to it, we will be happy to receive visitors for Victor at our Hapton HQ in Norfolk over the Summer. However, as the centre is not generally open to the public, we would ask you to please telephone in advance to make an appointment on 01508 481000, so we can ensure he is able to meet you. Our Hapton Summer Open Weekend takes place on July 11th and 12th this year, which will also provide the perfect opportunity to see him - please telephone 0870 040 0033 for more information.
We are so grateful for your understanding on this matter. If you have any questions, please do feel free to get in touch and we will keep you up to date on his progress on this website too!
