Tea and cake galore at Tufty's Tea Party!

More than 300 people came along to enjoy all the donkey fun at Tufty's Tea Party on Saturday 25th April.

Tufty the donkey was officially retired from our adoption scheme last year but he still has an army of supporters and as this year is Redwings' Silver Jubilee and Tufty is one of Redwings' longest residents, we decided to hold an extra special tea party in his honour at our Hapton HQ where he now lives.

The afternoon was jam-packed with donkey-related activities, including a donkey tour, vet talk and even a donkey-themed gift shop, and we held a Great Cake Competition where we invited local cake decorators and baking enthusiasts (plus Redwings staff!) to send us a cake for Tufty. We were amazed at the response and after the all-important judging we managed to raise over £250 by raffling them off to some very lucky visitors at the end!

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated a cake - including Penny Flynn (aka 'The Cake Lady') from Aylsham, Swardeston Bakery, Carly Wisdom from Mulbarton, Paula Macleod from Wisbech (aka the Creative Cake Company), Marion Punt and of course Rachel Hardy from Mettingham who produced our winning cake! Well done Rachel!

The day was filled with tea and cake for all, along with donkey grooming, ginger biscuit decorating and plenty of donkey cuddling! And it wasn't all donkey related of course! We must not forget little adoption Shetland Ben who was also celebrating his birthday this week. We invited his supporters to come along too and they came in their droves for plenty of chances to cuddle gorgeous little Ben and wish him a very special birthday.
