New Year, New Friend!
Happy New Year to you all! Why not adopt a brand new horse, pony or donkey from Redwings to celebrate the New Year in style?
To celebrate the New Year, Redwings has launched four brand new additions to its popular Adoption Club. Victoria, Rumpel, Del Boy and Gulliver will all join the gang at one of our four visitor centres across the country, and you can adopt one of them for just £12.50 a year. An adoption makes a wonderful gift for a loved one, or why not treat yourself? It’s a great way to support Redwings and make a new friend in the process!
The only challenge will be deciding who to choose…
Handsome Rumpel was rescued in 2008 as part of a huge rescue operation after animal welfare officers found over a hundred horses and ponies in terrible condition at a farm in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. His three friends - Aladdin, Ali Baba and Stiltskin - all received training to be ridden so they could find loving Guardian homes, but Rumpel simply did not take to such a life and the Redwings re-homing team decided to return him to the care of the Sanctuary. He is a lovely, friendly chap who lives at Redwings Oxhill near Stratford in Warwickshire and just loves cuddles. Read more about Rumpel here….Adopt_Rumpel

Victoria is a beautiful skewbald Trotter Cross who lives at Redwings Caldecott near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. She is just two years old, and was born at Redwings after her mum was rescued from London in terrible condition. Victoria can never be rehomed as she has conformation problems but she is a very friendly girl who just loves to meet her fans! More on Victoria can be found here…Adopt_Victoria

For all the donkey fans out there, meet Del Boy, a very handsome donkey who lives at Redwings Ada Cole near Harlow in Essex. Del Boy is nine years old and came to Redwings with his best mate Rodney after their previous home, a children’s play centre, was facing closure due to the recession. Del Boy and Rodney love to spend all day chatting to their visitors and playing together in their field, which is always highly entertaining. Click here for more about Del Boy…Adopt_DelBoy

And finally, gorgeous Gulliver will be the very first Adoption horse at Redwings Aylsham, the charity’s newest site which opens this year in North Norfolk. He is five years old and was rescued as a youngster with his mother Cinders after the pair had been abandoned in Essex. Cinders was extremely underweight as she had been sacrificing her own nutrients in order to ensure little Gulliver had everything he needed. He has now grown into a very handsome chap but he sadly cannot be re-homed as he has been diagnosed with Wobbler’s Syndrome. He caused such a stir amongst visitors at the Aylsham Preview Weekend in 2011 that staff knew he would be the perfect choice for an adoption horse! After choosing your special friend, you will receive a certificate and two updates every year, plus you will even get an invitation to their birthday party! Or, if you prefer email to snail mail, you can choose the innovative ‘online adoption’ which consists of a special members’ area that includes your chosen horse’s blog, videos, photos and you can even help take care of your new friend, in the virtual world that is!
