Festive Open Weekend appoaches
On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December it is time for our special Christmas Open Weekend at our Hapton HQ in Norfolk. Entry is free of charge so please do come along and help us finish celebrating this, our Silver Jubilee year, in fine style!
Come along and meet our cheeky Hapton residents
This coming weekend, 5th and 6th December, we will be holding our annual Christmas open weekend at our Hapton HQ, one of only two weekends a year it is open to the public. Come and see behind the scenes and meet friendly horses and donkeys, watch some displays, learn about the sanctuary and discover what we have been up to during our Silver Jubilee year!
The 350-acre site, home to hundreds of rescued horses, will be open to visitors over the weekend from 10 am to 3 pm. Entry is free.
Each day visitors can enjoy a number of activities. These will include re-homing displays when you can discover how Redwings prepares some of its horses to go to guardian homes; the chance to explore the specialist Horse Hospital; a ‘new arrivals’ talk and demo from our welfare vet, a very special Christmas raffle, minibus and tractor tours; a handling demonstration from the charity’s rehabilitation team; the Redwings Christmas Gift Shop; a café full of warming treats, and of course plenty of Young Redwings activities for the children including pony grooming and the chance to meet mascots Red and Wings who love to ‘horse’ around with youngsters!
Chief executive Lynn Cutress says:“2009 has been our Silver Jubilee year so we would love the chance to invite people who have never visited us before to come and learn about what we do, as well as meet some of our special residents, including those looking for new homes. We’re celebrating 25 years of caring for horses, ponies, donkeys and mules and we’d love to see as many people as possible during the last month of this special year. Entry is free and there really is something for people of all ages to enjoy.”
