Boo's Blind Appeal

Gentle giant Boo, a handsome 16hh Clydesdale, was the victim of an act of horrific violence which left him completely blind. Boo was shot in the eye at point blank range with an air rifle, and having lost one eye already to cancer, he was left totally blind.

Boo's future was immediately in doubt as caring for such a large horse with no sight would be potentially very dangerous, but his owners approached Redwings as we have lots of experience in caring for blind and partially sighted horses. After lots of assessment, we were confident he could lead a happy life and we brought him into the Sanctuary where he can get all the special care he requires.

On arrival our vets quickly established that he was pain free and that his placid, trusting nature would enable him to live a full and happy life. He now has a best friend called Oliver and lives happily in a field at Redwings HQ.

We are delighted with his progress and hope he will have many happy years here, but his care will always be specialised, he will always need extra care and supervision to enable him to continue this way. Please help us continue caring for this very brave, amazing horse and our other blind and partially sighted residents by donating to Boo's Blind Appeal today.
